Barring another blizzard, a couple of the indie-rockers who were scheduled to hit town in late January will be back to make up dates cancelled by the white-out. For chamber-folk faves Ida, this might be an occasion to update their song "Blizzard of ’78." Reunited with collaborator Karla Shickele for Ida’s new Heart like a River (Polyvinyl, out this Tuesday), the husband-and-wife team of Daniel Littleton and Elizabeth Mitchell are back to crafting luminous chamber folk that’s a dreamy vision of adult comforts and deepening familial warmth heated by the trio’s rich, close-sung, three-part harmony. On Sunday, they play the Museum of Fine Arts’ Remis Auditorium (617-369-3306) in Boston, with opening sets by Thalia Zedek and Secret Stars’ Jodi Buonanno. And on February 25, they’re at AS220 (401-831-9327) in Providence with the one-man electropop group San Serac.

Meanwhile, Colin Meloy returns to make up his January cancellations, hawking a tour-only EP of Morrissey covers, previewing tunes from the Decemberists’ eagerly awaited Picaresque, and perhaps — if you’re really lucky — dredging up a song from his old alt-country band Tarkio. He plays the Iron Horse (413-584-0610) in Northampton on Sunday and a sold-out gig at T.T. the Bear’s Place (617-492-BEAR) on Monday.

Brooklyn’s suave, glimmering glam-soul outfit the French Kicks team up with fellow New Yorkers Calla — you can preview a track from their forthcoming Collisions at www.callamusic.com — for gigs at T.T.’s on Friday and at the Green Room (401-351-7665) in Providence on Saturday. Leicester lads Kasabian weld clubby Manchester-in-the-’90s beats to thundering neo-Zeppelin riffs on their homonymous RCA debut, and that makes them a perfect fit on a tour with the Music (whose Welcome to the North Mikael Wood reviews in "Off the Record," on page 17). They’re at the Call (401-751-2255) in Providence on Tuesday and at the Paradise (617-562-8800) in Boston on Wednesday. New Jersey’s Gern Blandsten and Boston’s Lonesome Recordings throw in two artists each for a joint-label mini-tour; it’s headlined by local art-rockers Victory at Sea but otherwise dominated by punks-turned-roots-rockers: former Canyon/Boy’s Life frontman Brandon Butler, the Lot Six/Eyes like Knives spinoff Frank Smith, and singer-songwriter Chris Keene. They’re all at the Century Lounge (401-751-2255) in Providence on Wednesday and at Great Scott (617-734-4502) in Allston next Thursday, February 24.
